Shin Kushiya (Suntec Galleria)

It has been a long time since Wei and I go out for our occasionally lavish and sumptuous meal together. Among our kakis, we are the only 2 that keen to have this kinda of lifestyle and of course sometimes blame it on our stressful mind.

This time I suggest we go to Shin Kushiya at the new Suntec Galleria.

For timing like 7pm, there weren’t many diners. There are only 3 or 4 tables full, mostly couples. The cool and dark interior is suitable for cozy dinner for couples or just a laidback one with the girlfriends.

From where I sit, I faced directly to the see-through grilling counter with chef grilling our orders. The menu is filled with colorful pictures to capture clients’ curiosity on the taste of the food. But however, the description of each dish is not reading friendly under the dim light.

Shin is distinctive for their grilled skewers, Kushiyaki in Japanese. The restaurant uses Bincho charcoal (white charcoal) for their grill and it claims that any grilled food would turn out to be crispy on the outside and yet juicy on the inside.

I didn’t know that on every Wednesday nite, all skewers have 30% off the menu price. Of course we order a few to try; the Gyu Kambi (prime beef), enoki mushrooms wrapped with thin beef slices, chicken yakitori, ika and salmon belly with grated daikon and spring onion on top.

From left; Chicken Yakitori, 2 sticks of Enoki mushrooms wrapping in beef slices

The average price for the skewers is around $3. Overall, I would say that the Gyu Kambi really taste good with the natural flavor and the tenderness of it. But I have taste better version of enoki with beef slices and chicken yakitori at other places, so this one here did not amaze me.

We also order an appetizer; vege and soft shell crab wrapped in rich paper (I forget the name of it and it reminds me of the Vietnamese food).

A Sashimi Moriwase for 2 was ordered as well; a total of 5 variety of sashimi @ $22.80.

We not in the mood for any sushi or main dish like rice or noodles (Donburi or Menrui ) last nite but I guess I might go back and try one more time. This time round can look out for their special promotion on different nite, like the ladies nite whereby sake is 1-1. And I think Wei interested in this too??? Haaaa
